A few words about me

I began to work at 12 as some kind of office boy, just helping administrative work, going to bank and stuff like that. At 15, I was granted a computer programming course from the company I was working for, COSTA LION. It was just a very basic course for the Basic programming language, but it was strong enough to show me what I was meant for. It was love at first sight and I couldn’t wait any longer to start writing my own code. I was able to purchase my first personal computer, a Sinclair compatible with 2 KB RAM expanded to 16 KB and this allowed me to start coding my own games in Assembly (like TRON) and to manage my personal bank account, even without a proper database.

Since then, it was a long history. During my career, more than 40 years long, I had witnessed all the amazing evolution in technology, specially in Software Development industry, learning skills, programming languages, like dBase II, dBase III, dBase III+, Clipper, C, C++, Perl, PHP, Delphi, JavaScript, Caché Object Script, etc., and all types of technology stacks, including, but not limited to, databases, operating systems, security and infrastructure solutions for all sizes of networks and platforms.

I was able to help companies achieve their goals, like leading Grupo Internet Brasil from the very beginning until reaching about 15 thousand customers in about 5 years, as well to help professionals improve their skills along the way, some of them becoming successful professionals for decades ahead, like Daniel Rejwan, independent developer still on business in Brazil or Rafael Lunardelli, successful Youtuber and career maker, current owner of his own training platform specialized on PHP and Laravel. Even nowadays I am constantly amazed about people thanking me for having helped them to become successful professionals on the field and I am also grateful for being able to help them somehow. I believe that knowledge is meant to be shared and teams only succeed delivering work this way.

Over time, I’ve faced many challenges and I am very glad for succeeding in most of them. I remember when our team, at RESOLVE! SISTEMAS, was contacted by Monsanto Industries at the time they were about to launch their Aspartame product in Brazil and they needed a graphical application to present their solution on a business fair on the weekend. We had 4 days to build their solution and we didn’t have any previous experience on graphical programming. We used Borland Graphics Interface (BGI) and C++ programming language to build a full desktop application on time for the event. Since I had been the top developer is most teams I belonged to, most of the time I couldn’t ask anyone for help and had to figure out the solutions myself. That explains why I was able to improve my knowledge and skills beyond what should be expected for someone in my position and why I became so strong in solving complex tech problems.

I am Brazilian, divorced, I have two sons and a daughter, all grown up already. I live near the beach, I love to sing in karaoke, to ride my bicycle, to play chess and to help people. I prefer to work at home, where I can be more productive and have more quality of life, near my fiancée and my dog, but I really love to work, specially to code, although I am also good at having a good overview of projects and proposing higher level solutions whenever needed.

I can work with almost any technology and development stack, but I consider myself stronger with PHP, C, C++, Perl, Angular, MySQL, MS SQL Server and Linux, since I had implemented lots of successful projects using these stacks. Agile development with OOP, Design Patterns and Clean Code principles complement my profile. I am also a fast learner, so I can adapt myself to any technology challenges you may have for me.
